Jann Arden will be inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame at this year’s JUNO Awards in Saskatoon, it was announced Tuesday.
“I am so honoured,” said Arden, in a release. “I’ve spent my career creating and performing music that I hoped would resonate with others. I feel incredibly humbled to be recognized with this award and to join such an esteemed group of past honourees whose art has helped connect us to one another as Canadians.”
The 57-year-old singer-songwriter, author, podcast host and star of CTV’s Jann has collected eight JUNO Awards during her career. She will join Canadian Music Hall of Fame inductees like Bryan Adams, Alanis Morissette, Leonard Cohen, Neil Young, Shania Twain and last year’s honouree, Corey Hart.
Arden is scheduled to perform during the JUNO Awards broadcast on March 15. Her hits include “I Would Die For You,” “Insensitive” and “Good Mother.”
“The whole reason I went into the arts is that I really didn’t want to work," she told iHeartRadio.ca last month. "I wanted to have fun with my pals, I wanted to meet new people, I wanted to travel and make things that made people happy. So that’s what I’ve been doing the last 30 years."
JUNO Awards president and CEO Allan Reid, described Arden as "a multi-dimensional artist" and said he respects her "tenacity and grit."
“She’s respected and adored for her catalogue of heartfelt music, unapologetic honesty and entertaining quick wit," Reid said, in a release. "We are thrilled to welcome her into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame."
