Fans of Jann Arden already know how funny she is on stage in between singing hits like “Good Mother,” “Insensitive” and “Could I Be Your Girl.”
Next year, everyone will get to see her comedic side in a new series based on her life.
CTV announced Thursday that the 56-year-old Calgary native will play a “fictionalized version of herself” on a show aptly titled Jann.
“I am more or less freaking out about this amazing opportunity to partner up with CTV,” Arden said, in a statement. "I have had a long and successful relationship with the network and can't wait to have everybody see the Jann show!
“The support of their creative team means the world to me and I know we are going to make something hilarious and heartfelt at the same time.”
Arden will play a newly single singer-songwriter trying to revive her career while dealing with her mother’s dementia. In real life, Arden wrote Feeding My Mother about caring for her mother Joan Richards, who has Alzheimer’s.
Arden's list of TV credits include guest roles on Workin’ Moms, The Detour and Robson Arms.
Production of the series is scheduled to begin in Calgary later this year.
