Country star Jason Aldean returned to Las Vegas this week after a mass shooting Oct. 1 during his performance at the Route 91 Harvest Music Festival.
The singer’s wife Brittany shared a photo of the couple standing on an airport tarmac looking at the Mandalay Bay hotel, where the gunman was positioned.
“Feels surreal being back in Vegas today,” she captioned the photo. "Visiting some of the strongest people we have ever met… fighting the toughest battle of them all… for their lives.
“You have helped us try to begin to start the healing process by seeing the strength each one of you have. Thank you for today. We will never forget.”
Aldean visited the University Medical Center and Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, two of the facilities where victims of the shooting were treated.
On Saturday, the country star was in New York City to open SNL with a tribute to the shooting victims and their families.
Before performing a cover of Tom Petty’s 1989 hit “Won’t Back Down,” Aldean said: “Like everyone, I’m struggling to understand what happened that night and how to pick up the pieces and start to heal.”
Aldean cancelled shows scheduled for last weekend in the wake of the tragedy. He plans to resume his tour Oct. 12 in Oklahoma.
