Jennifer Lopez ventured out Wednesday for one last workout before Florida’s stay-at-home order goes into effect at midnight Thursday.
The pop star and her fiancé, baseball star Alex Rodriguez, were spotted leaving SoMi Fitness, which evidently opened just for them because a sign on the door reads: “The gym is not open. Stay home stay safe.” (On March 31, Miami-Dade County mayor Carlos A. Gimenez ordered the immediate closure of all fitness centres and gyms.)
Florida governor Ron DeSantis announced Wednesday a state-wide lockdown to fight the spread of COVID-19.
“I’m … ordering all Floridians to limit movements and personal interactions outside the home to only those necessary to obtain or provide essential services or conduct essential activities,” he said.
By Wednesday night, Florida had reported more than 7,773 cases of COVID-19, including just over 100 deaths.
Lopez and Rodriguez have a home in Coral Gables, where the mayor issued an emergency order on March 25 that “strongly urges residents to remain at home.”
In paparazzi photos, Lopez’s bodyguard is seen wearing a protective mask and using a tissue of some kind on the handle of her black Bentley as she exits the gym in South Miami.
On March 18, Lopez wrote on Instagram “We can’t go out to any restaurants or anything” and included the hashtag “#StaySafe.”
Rodriguez, who has been doing daily livestreams from the couple’s mansion during the COVID-19 outbreak, wrote on Instagram earlier this week: “Find ways to exercise. Find ways to reduce stress.”
He said social distancing has reminded him “how important it is to slow down and spend time with family.”
ARod shared: “We all need to take care of ourselves, mentally and physically, and also be respectful of the health and well-being of others. At a time when people need to stay apart, we can still find other ways to feel togetherness.
“Find ways to stay in touch with those you can’t be with in person right now. Stay connected, and most importantly, stay safe!”
