The Bear star Jeremy Allen White is reportedly in talks to portray Bruce Springsteen in A24's forthcoming film based on his 1982 album Nebraska.
Earlier this year it was revealed that the Boss was working with writer-director Scott Cooper (Crazy Heart) for a scripted film detailing the behind-the-scenes moments of the album's creation.
More details have now been announced about the project. The script will be based on Warren Zanes' 2023 book, Deliver Me from Nowhere, which documented the making of Nebraska, the gritty, intimate album Springsteen recorded in his bedroom before he and the E-Street Band made Born In The USA.
Former head of Netflix Scott Stuber will produce the film along with Gotham Group’s Ellen Goldsmith-Vein & Eric Robinson, with Cooper set to both write and direct.
The Emmy-winning White is said to be the favourite to play Springsteen, and is expected to head to New Jersey to begin shooting in the fall. Currently he is wrapping up season three of The Bear, then going straight into shooting season four.
