Albums by Jessie Reyez, Feist and Daniel Caesar are among those on the 2023 Polaris Music Prize long list, which was revealed on Tuesday.
The prize goes to the best Canadian album of the year, “judged solely on artistic merit, without consideration for genre or record sales,” according to a release. A jury of 205 music industry insiders considered 221 albums released in the year ending May 1.
A short list of 10 finalists will be announced on July 13 and the winning album will be crowned on Sept. 19.
The Polaris Music Prize comes with a $50,000 cash award. Last year, it went to José Louis and the Paradox of Love by Pierre Kwenders.
