Tributes are pouring in for Jim Rodford, former bassist with The Kinks and The Zombies, who died Saturday. He was 76.
According to his cousin Rod Argent, Rodford suffered “a fall on the stairs.”
On Facebook, Argent wrote: “Jim was not only a magnificent bass player, but also from the first inextricably bound to the story of The Zombies. … To the end, Jim’s life was dedicated to music.”
Rodford joined The Kinks in 1978 and spent 18 years in the band. “He toured and recorded with the Kinks for many years and will be greatly missed,” read a tweet on the official Kinks account. “He was much loved by all of us.”
Dave Davies of The Kinks was “devastated” by the news.
“I’m too broken up to put words together it’s such a shock i always thought Jim would live forever in true rock and roll fashion,” he tweeted. “Great friend great musician great man - he was an integral part of theKinks later years RIP.”
