Joe Perry has pulled the plug on a tour that was set to begin next week.
The news comes 10 days after the 68-year-old Aerosmith guitarist collapsed backstage at Madison Square Garden in New York City after performing on stage with Billy Joel.
At the time, a rep said Perry “experienced shortness of breath and was treated backstage by paramedics who gave the guitarist oxygen and used a tracheal tube to clear his airway before taking him to a hospital.”
In an Instagram post late Tuesday, Perry told fans he is at home and doing well. “The doctor recommends a bit more downtime before getting out to rock again, so regrettably I had to cancel my upcoming tour dates.”
The rocker has 10 concerts scheduled between Nov. 30 and Dec. 16 with Aerosmith bandmate Brad Whitford and Extreme singer Gary Cherone. No Canadian dates were part of the tour.
“Was really looking forward to playing these shows with Brad and Gary and seeing all of you who were planning to come out and support us,” Perry wrote. “We will be back out as soon as possible.”
