Kevin and Joe Jonas have come clean about the Grammy night furor over their brother Nick's failure to clean between his teeth.
Fans spotted a little piece of spinach stuck in Nick’s teeth as the Jonas Brothers performed “Five More Minutes” and “What a Man Gotta Do.” Nick later tweeted: “At least you all know I eat my greens."
Appearing on a British radio show this week, the eldest Jonas brothers confessed they never inspected Nick’s mouth before going on stage – but they did check each other’s.
“We haven’t talked about this,” said Kevin. “Right before the performance, I did, like, a teeth check with Joe and Joe did one with me.
“I have not said this to you and I forgot to mention it.”
Joe accused Kevin of throwing him “under the bus” but Nick was able to grin and bear it (presumably with perfectly flossed teeth). "It's not really their responsibility, I guess," Nick conceded.
He revealed that the spinach likely spent most of the day lodged between his teeth.
“I had only eaten one thing, like, hours before the performance,” said Nick. “I had what I have every day for breakfast: egg white omelet, spinach, mushrooms, little bit of feta cheese.”
The singer is anxious to move on from “spinach-gate,” which he admitted was “a little embarrassing.”
Nick said: “You can be having the best year of your career, at the top of your game, performing on the Grammys as a nominee, and still have spinach in your teeth. So, God has an amazing way of humbling you.”
