Jonathan Emile, a Montreal Rapper, has just won his court case against Kendrick Lamar.
Emile won the case in small claims court agains Top Dawg Entertainment, and Intercope Record and Universal Music Group subsidiary. They had forced the removal of Emile's song 'Heaven Help Dem' from YouTube, and other plaforms because of copyright infringement.
The Canadian rapper convinced Lamar to guest rap on the song in 2015. he had even paid the famous star, who had in turn sent him the recording of his performance to be included in the song. However, Lamar and his team had later stopped responding to any contact, and forced Emile to take down anything online.
The judgement gave Emile $8600 plus 5% interest according to Billboard. Discouraged, the rapper said he wouldn't promote the song anyway, in order to move on.
His new album, Phantom Pain, is set to come out soon.
