Journey will be one of the first bands to set up shop at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace after it’s vacated by Céline Dion.
The classic rock band announced Monday they will perform a nine-show residency there between Oct. 9 and 26. (Founding member Neal Schon told iHeartRadio in March that an October residency was coming.)
Tickets go on sale to the general public on Friday at 10 a.m. local time.
The Colosseum, which currently accommodates around 4,300 people, is set to undergo a two-month renovation beginning in early July. Updates include adding a general admission area suitable for rock fans.
The venue is managed by AEG, whose owner Philip Anschutz is a controversial Christian conservative. Journey’s keyboardist Jonathan Cain is a devout Christian (his new solo album is titled More Like Jesus) whose beliefs have caused a rift with Schon. Last year, Cain told Rolling Stone the two speak when they have to. “I’ll see him at rehearsals,” he said. “We meet when we get on the road."
Journey’s hits include “Any Way You Want It,” “Who’s Crying Now” and, of course, “Don’t Stop Believin’.” The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame band, which has been fronted by Arnel Pineda since the departure of Steve Perry, toured last summer with Def Leppard.
Journey is not the only rock band playing the Vegas strip. Aerosmith's Deuces are Wild residency continues at Park MGM until December.
