Justin Bieber revealed on Saturday that he and Ryan Gosling – who were born in the same hospital 160 months apart – are distant cousins.
“I always saw a strong resemblance,” the singer’s manager Scooter Braun joked.
Bieber posted a graph that shows Gosling is his 11th cousin removed and singer Avril Lavigne is his 12th cousin removed.
“Just found out that I’m related to both Ryan [G]osling and Avril Lavigne,” Bieber wrote. “This is the best day of my life.”
The pop star added: “It seems super legit it’s on ancestry.com.” (The genealogy company replied in a comment: “Totally legit! What a glorious Canadian combo.”)
Bieber and Gosling, who share 11th Great Grandparents Mathurin Roy and Marguerite Biré, were born at St. Joseph’s Hospital in London, Ont. in March 1994 and in November 1980 respectively. They are related via Bieber’s mother Pattie Mallette and Gosling’s father Thomas Gosling.
Bieber and Gosling both had early starts in the entertainment business. Bieber was 13 when he moved to Atlanta to begin his pop music career. Gosling sang and danced as a child and was 12 when he landed a role on a reboot of The Mickey Mouse Club with Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera.
