Justin Bieber has apologized (sort of) for telling 15-year-old JoJo Siwa to burn the BMW convertible she received for Christmas.
Siwa, a YouTube personality best known for appearing on Dance Moms, shared a photo of the car and its customized paint job on Instagram on Dec. 22.
A few days later, the post was shared by West Coast Customs on its Instagram profile, where Bieber reacted with: “Burn it.”
While many people agreed with Bieber, others thought he shouldn’t have weighed in.
One wrote: “Who would say that to a teen … that makes small kids happy?” Another called the Canadian pop star “pathetic.”
One young Siwa fan shared some advice for Bieber. “Just think before you press that post button … think about who your [sic] talking to … think of who might be sobbing tonight over your comment.”
On Sunday, Bieber tweeted at Siwa to let her know it wasn’t personal.
"I have nothing against you it was the car and the colors I didn’t like,” he explained. “I really hope you didn’t think it was malicious or mean spirited.”
Siwa replied: “It’s all good bro! you can perform at my 16th birthday party and we’ll call it good!”
