Justin Timberlake was arrested on DWI-related charges Monday night (June 17) in Sag Harbor, Long Island.
According to the Sag Harbor Police Department, the *NSYNC member is due in court Tuesday for arraignment.
Although details of Timberlake’s arrest have not yet been made available, a spokesperson for the police told Newsday the specific charges against him would be announced later today (June 18).
TMZ reports the singer met with friends for dinner at the American Hotel and left just after midnight. He was reportedly pulled over by police moments after he drove off. A source told TMZ the traffic violation was driving while under the influence.
Timberlake is currently on a short break from his Forget Tomorrow World Tour, which is scheduled to commence in Chicago on Friday (June 21).
Update: The Sag Harbor Police Department has issued a statement acknowledging the arrest, saying, "Mr. Timberlake was placed under arrest, processed, and held overnight for morning arraignment. Mr. Timberlake was arraigned at the Sag Harbor Village Justice Court on June 18, 2024, at 9:30 AM where he was released on his own recognizance."
The New York Post writes that a source revealed Timberlake was "wasted" the night of his arrest. He was charged with driving while intoxicated and cited for running a stop sign and failing to keep on the right side of the roadway.
Court documents show he refused to take a Breathalyzer test three times and admitted to drinking only "one Martini."
The arresting officer claimed, Timberlake's "eyes were bloodshot and glassy, a strong odour of an alcoholic beverage was emanating from his breath, he was unable to divide attention, he had slowed speech, he was unsteady afoot, and he performed poorly on all standardized field sobriety tests."
He is scheduled to be back in court for a hearing on July 26.
