Earlier this year, Justin Timberlake splashed back onto the scene with "Can't Stop the Feeling," and now, the pop titan is seeing the merits of the song's success as it has been named the top-selling single of 2016.
As per Forbes and Nielsen SoundScan, the feel-good anthem off the Trolls soundtrack sold 2.4 million downloads in 2016 and was streamed almost 700 million times. Those figures helped catapult it to the top of the list, but it's surely no surprise considering the song's debut in May. "Can't Stop the Feeling," which was co-written by Timberlake, Max Martin and Shellback, debuted at the No. 1 stop on the Billboard Hot 100.
Even though the hit's total sales mark a significant drop from last year's best seller ("Uptown Funk"'s 5.4 million paid downloads), there's no stopping the cut's relevancy. In recent weeks, "Can't Stop the Feeling" has been nominated for both a Grammy and Golden Globe award. Will it score a nod for Best Original Song when the Oscar nominations drop in January? Insert anxious emoji.
