K-pop star Goo Hara was found dead Sunday in her home. She was 28.
The singer and actress – a member of Kara from 2008 to 2016 – reportedly took her own life, although police said they are still investigating the cause of her death.
On Saturday night, Hara posted a photo of herself in bed that she captioned “Good night.”
In May, she was found unconscious in her home after posting “Goodbye” on Instagram. Hara later apologized to fans for causing “concerns and a commotion" and explained: “I had been in agony over a number of overlapping issues. But from now on, I will steel my heart and try to show up healthy."
In addition to performing with Kara, Hara put out a solo EP, Alohara (Can You Feel It?), in 2015. Earlier this month, she released the Japanese-language single “Midnight Queen," which she supported with a four-city tour that ended Nov. 19.
Hara’s death comes a little more than a month after K-pop star Sulli (whose real name was Choi Jin-ri,) took her own life at the age of 25. "I hope Jin-ri is now in a place where she can do whatever she wants," Hara wrote on Instagram at the time.
K-pop star Jonghyun took his own life in December 2017.
South Korea has one of the highest suicide rates in the world, according to the World Health Organization, and suicide is one of the leading causes of death of citizens under 40.
