Kanye West is designing low-income housing inspired by Star Wars.
Fans of the original 1977 film know that Luke Skywalker lived in an igloo-like home on the desert planet Tatooine. According to Forbes, West has a team working on pre-fabricated structures with “the same austere aesthetic.”
Forbes senior editor Zack O'Malley Greenburg reported on West showing him three prototypes “that look like the skeletons of wooden spaceships” and “oblong and dozens of feet tall.”
West said he hopes the structures could be deployed for use by the homeless. (Hopefully, residents won't have the same experience as Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru.) Forbes reported that they could be “sunk into the ground with light filtering through the top.”
The rap superstar has previously referenced Star Wars in his music. On the 2013 track “Guilt Trip,” West raps "Star Wars fur, yeah I'm rockin' Chewbacca" and on 2005’s “Gone” he includes the line “But if they ever flip side like Anakin.”
