Retired teacher Ruth Reed was treated to a special meet-and-greet with country superstar Keith Urban last week – and it only cost her $5.
Reed was at a Wawa convenience store in Medford, New Jersey on Friday when she overheard Urban talking about being short on cash to pay for this purchases.
“He asked a lady with him if she had money,” she recalled, in a social media post. “I jumped in and said I would pay. He thanked me and asked my name. I asked him his and he told me it was Keith.”
Reed said when she told the singer he looked like Keith Urban, he said he was.
“I didn’t believe him,” she wrote. “I asked where [wife] Nicole [Kidman] was and who was the lady. He told me it was his sister.”
(Urban told Billboard last year he was “a guy who grew up with no sisters.”)
“He finally said that I could ask his bodyguard,” Reed continued. “It was then I realized what an idiot I was. He graciously allowed me to get my picture taken with him.”
Urban performed later that night in Camden, a stop on his Graffiti U tour, which comes to Canada next month.
