Keith Urban brought his star power to the Grey Cup in Calgary on Sunday, performing an electrifying medley of five songs during halftime.
“It sure feels good to be playing the Grey Cup in 2019,” the country star sang during “Somebody Like You.” Later, in “Wasted Time,” he inserted a shout out to Alberta’s own k.d. lang.
Urban also played parts of “Somewhere in My Car,” “Blue Ain’t Your Color” (co-written by Canada’s Steven Lee Olsen) and “The Fighter.”
The impressive staging included a pair of video cubes, light effects and fireworks. Urban went down into the crowd on the field during “The Fighter” while Carrie Underwood appeared on the screens.
He ended the set with: “I love you so much! We’ll see you very soon!”
Urban was the only country artist besides Shania Twain to headline the Grey Cup halftime show (Twain performed in 2017 and 2002).
