Country singer Kellie Pickler’s husband, songwriter Kyle Jacobs, reportedly shot himself at the couple’s Nashville home on Friday. He was 49.
According to multiple reports, when Pickler was unable to open the door to her home office, her personal assistant called 911. Nashville Police confirmed they were called to the Sneed Road home at 1:21 p.m. and found Jacobs dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
"The Academy is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Kyle Jacobs, a talented Nashville songwriter & producer and the husband of Kellie Pickler," read a tweet from the Academy of Country Music. "In 2014 Jacobs won an ACM Award as producer of Lee Brice's 'I Drive Your Truck.' Join us in sending condolences, love & healing."
Pickler and Jacobs were married on New Year’s Day in 2011.
Jacobs co-wrote the Garth Brooks 2007 hit “More Than a Memory” and helped craft songs recorded by artists like Tim McGraw, Kelly Clarkson, Scotty McCreery, Trace Adkins and Jo Dee Messina. He also co-wrote songs on Pickler’s three most recent albums.
Jacobs' Twitter bio reads: "Happily married to my best friend." The couple starred in the reality show I Love Kellie Pickler from 2015 to 2017.
Pickler finished sixth on Season 5 of American Idol in 2006 and won Season 16 of Dancing with the Stars with Derek Hough in 2013.
