Kelly Clarkson is apparently still stinging from taking a hit by Avril Lavigne in 2002.
Clarkson recently recalled being “elbowed in the face” while giving an award to the Canadian singer at the MTV VMAs.
“I don’t know if she felt bad about it, or, like, she didn’t mean to do it or what,” Clarkson said on The Howard Stern Show. “But it felt purposeful.”
The “Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You)” star added: "Years later she saw me and she said, ‘Oh my gosh, I don’t know, people keep saying I elbowed you in the face, and I’m so sorry!’”

Clarkson – who was at the time the newly-crowned American Idol winner – said she was “bummed” by the incident because she was a fan of Lavigne. “I loved her music,” she said.
Lavigne co-wrote Clarkson’s 2004 single “Breakaway” – but Clarkson says the track was “dead in the water” until Disney used it in The Princess Diaries 2.”
She explained: “Disney promoted the crap out of that song.”
