Kelsea Ballerini only got engaged in December 2016, but she’s already willing to share her new love with fans. The 23-year-old country singer said in an interview with Entertainment Tonight Thursday (Feb. 9) that her forthcoming album will include a duet with her fiancé, Australian musician Morgan Evans.
While she didn’t share any details about the collaboration, Ballerini has said it may end up “being the album title, so I’m holding all that. But, yeah, it’ll be there,” she said. She met Evans in March of last year while hosting Australia’s Country Music Channel Awards.
This new album will be a departure from her previous work.
“I feel like it’ll be different but not in a drastic way where anybody feels like I’m trying to change my identity. It’s not like that. My first record, I really wanted it to capture 12-21, so it’s younger and youthful and it’s flirty. This one’s definitely more mature because I’m writing it from 21-23 and my life’s changed a lot. I went through a gross breakup and then I had some growing up discovery years, and then I met Morgan. So I think it captures all of that.”
Ballerini has quickly won over fans with hits like “Peter Pan” and “Yeah Boy” on her debut album The First Time. She has scooped up three Grammy nominations, including one for “Best New Artist”, where she competes against Maren Morris, The Chainsmokers, Chance the Rapper and Anderson .Paak.
The Grammys air live from Los Angeles this Sunday, Feb. 12.
