Kesha has removed the reference to Diddy in her 2009 hit "TiK ToK" after he was accused of rape and abuse by Cassie last week.
Last Thursday (November 16), R&B singer Cassie accused the Bad Boy Records founder of physical and sexual abuse during their years-long relationship. In the lawsuit she alleges he put her through “a pattern of control and abuse that included plying her with drugs, beating her and forcing her to have sex with a succession of male prostitutes while he filmed the encounters.” Diddy's attorney said his client “vehemently denies” the allegations.
The next day (November 17), the two announced they had reached a settlement to their "mutual satisfaction." Both parties issued statements.
“I have decided to resolve this matter amicably on terms that I have some level of control," Cassie said. "I want to thank my family, fans and lawyers for their unwavering support.”
While in a separate statement, Combs said, “We have decided to resolve this matter amicably. I wish Cassie and her family all the best,” before adding, “Love.”
However, the backlash against Diddy seems to be well underway and led by Kesha, Stereogum reports.
During her two shows this weekend in Oakland and Hollywood, Kesha removed Diddy (née P. Diddy) from her breakthrough hit, "TiK ToK." Instead of the original lyric, "Wake up in the mornin' feelin' like P Diddy," she omitted his name, instead singing, "Wake up in the mornin' feelin' just like me."
Kesha herself was involved in a long-standing abuse case of her. Similar to Cassie, she accused producer Dr. Luke of sexual assault and battery, sexual harassment, gender violence, and emotional abuse. However, he sued her for defamation earlier this year, which was eventually settled out of court.
