Kesha is looking to follow in Taylor Swift's footsteps by re-recording her songs after she gains back the rights to her music.
The 37-year-old singer entered a new era last year when she parted ways with her label and management, giving her the freedom to take back control of her career after a lengthy legal battle against producer Dr. Luke (real name Łukasz Gottwald), who she had accused of sexual assault.
In a new interview with Playboy, Kesha is asked how she feels about re-releasing updated old songs, to which she replied, "I am going to release my own versions of my previous songs as soon as I'm legally able to cuz there are few tweaks I would like to make to some of the lyrics given the landscape of today. But that's a couple years away so stay posted."
In regards to the "landscape of today," she is most likely referring to her 2009 hit single "Tik Tok," which featured a brief cameo by Sean "Diddy" Combs. Kesha began replacing the lyric during her concerts after Combs was sued by ex-girlfriend Cassie for physical and sexual abuse last year.
Elsewhere in the interview, Kesha says she feels "reborn" after a year that saw her score a hit with new single "Joyride" and collaborate with Charli XCX on her track "Spring Breakers."
“I feel like a completely different person. I feel reborn," she said. "I feel like I’m doing everything for the first time again, which is maybe strange because I’ve been doing this for 15 years. Everything looks brighter, everything feels different. Everything sounds different. It just feels like I’m living a whole new reincarnation and I’m lucky enough to get to all this over again.”
