The drummer for a Korn tribute band suffered a stroke on stage – but managed to finish the song before collapsing.
Alex Headen, 28, was playing “Helmet in the Bush” at a festival in Stockport, England in May when the left side of his body went numb and he lost vision in his left eye. Although he had to stop playing the cymbals, the drummer continued to play using only his right hand.
According to the Manchester Evening News, Headen put his head down on his drums at the end of the song and was rushed to hospital.
“I didn’t want to stop the song because it was so early in the set. I didn’t want to let the band or crowd down,” he told the newspaper. “Never in a million years did I think I was having a stroke. I just thought I had low blood sugar or was dehydrated.”
Video of the performance shows lead singer Stephen Emerson looking at Headen when it became obvious there was a problem.
