KRS-One apologized Saturday for mentioning Beastie Boys’ Ad-Rock in a track about late rappers.
Ad-Rock, whose real name is Adam Horovitz, is very much alive.
“I mistakably paid respect and condolences to the wrong Beastie Boy member King Ad-Rock when it should have been MCA," KRS-One said in a statement posted on social media. Adam “MCA” Yauch died in 2012.
“I am sending my sincere apologies to King Ad-Rock.”
On the track “Hip Hop Speaks From Heaven” on KRS-One’s album The World Is Mind, he raps: “Like a late fog in the mist / I see King Ad-Rock and rest in peace Nate Dogg / Their names and their natures will last.”
KRS-One, who’s a year older than Ad-Rock, said he will re-record the song “and I am pilling the original version off of my digital release.”
The rapper added: “I accept all responsibility for this error.”
