Grammys, CMAs, ACMs and soon a Tony?
Lady Antebellum could be adding a new trophy to their collection as the country trio has been nominated for its first-ever Tony Award.
Charles Kelley, Dave Haywood and Hillary Scott snagged a Best Original Score (Music and/or Lyrics) nod this week for “Chop to the Top,” the song they wrote for Spongebob Squarepants: The Musical.
"Something I never thought I’d ever tweet: @ladyantebellum got nominated for a Tony Award," Scott shared on social media. "For a song we wrote for SpongeBob Square Pants The Broadway Musical. We are over the [moon]."
Kelley previously explained the trio wrote the song long before any of them had kids and, after “so many years,” began to wonder if it made the show.
Spongebob Squarepants: The Musical tied for the most nominations with 12 total.
Sara Bareilles and Josh Groban host the 72nd Annual Tony Awards from Radio City Music Hall in New York City June 10.
