With Chromatica, Lady Gaga has earned her sixth No. 1 on the U.S. album chart – an impressive feat since it’s only her fifth solo album.
The album, released May 29, racked up 274,000 equivalent album units in its first week, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data. The Billboard 200 chart, dated June 13, will be published on Tuesday.
Chromatica had the biggest week of any album by a female artist since Taylor Swift’s Lover last year. Gaga is also the female artist earning six No. 1 albums in the shortest time, beating Swift by 21 months.
Gaga is now tied with Swift, Beyoncé, Mariah Carey and Britney Spears. Barbra Streisand has 11 No. 1 albums, Madonna has nine and Janet Jackson has seven.
Three of Gaga’s previous solo albums also went to No. 1: 2011’s Born This Way, 2013's Artpop and 2016's Joanne. Cheek to Cheek, her 2014 duets album with Tony Bennett, also topped the chart, as well as the soundtrack to the 2018 remake of A Star Is Born.
Billboard reported that Gaga’s sales figures benefitted from merchandise and ticket bundles as well as a deluxe edition that was available at U.S. retailer Target.
Chromatica includes collaborations with Ariana Grande, Elton John and BLACKPINK.
