Lana Del Rey came under fire over the weekend for potentially exposing fans to COVID-19.
The singer stopped by a book store in Los Angeles on Saturday to promote her poetry collection Violet Bent Backwards Over the Grass wearing a mesh face mask.
Concerned fans shared their thoughts on the fashion statement during an Instagram Live.
“YOU MAKE IT SO HARD TO STAN,” read one comment. “PLEASEE WEAR A PROPER MASK.” Another read: “Love you love you love you so much but please wear a mask under that one.”
One comment, which racked up more than 20,000 “likes,” asked Del Rey to “please address the mask situation... it’s absolutely embarrassing.”
On Twitter, where photos of Del Rey standing inches away from fans appeared, one fan wrote: “Why is she at an event with a bunch of people wearing a mesh mask??? I love Lana but this is incredibly irresponsible.”
I love Lana Del Rey, I always have and I (likely) always will. Her music has been with me during every high and low of my life, and I’m thankful that she shares her music with us.

But that doesn’t mean I support everything she does. She knows better than to wear a mesh mask…
At least one fan seemed to have no beef with the mask. “omg i love your mask queen of not following health guidelines.”
Del Rey wore a similar mesh mask on the cover of the September issue of Interview.
The singer did not immediately address the criticism but, on Sunday, posted a video showing her reading from her book while wearing a cloth mask.
