Liam Gallagher didn’t write most of Oasis’ songs but that doesn’t mean he shouldn't sing them.
“I am Oasis,” the 44-year-old musician told NME. “It doesn’t matter who wrote the f**king songs and who f**king sung them.
“I’m the one who that f**king took them for a walk on the wild side.”
Most of Oasis' collection of songs was written by Gallagher's older brother Noel.
Liam, who was married to Ontario-born singer Nicole Appleton for five years, is embarking on a solo tour to promote his new album As You Were. He's set to perform at Montreal's Osheaga festival in August.
He told NME that despite his well-publicized feuds with Noel, he still loves the band that made them famous.
“I f**king love Oasis … that’s my f**king first love,” he said. “I don’t yearn for it, though, like some people go on about.”
Gallagher's May 30th show in hometown Manchester will benefit the Red Cross. He told the Manchester Evening News: "I want to try and help pick people up. People like me, doing what we do, it’s our duty to give people a good time."
The 1995 Oasis hit “Don’t Look Back in Anger” has become an anthem for people still reeling from a terror attack last week.
