We’ve already heard new music from Harry Styles and Niall Horan in the past couple of weeks, but don’t think Liam Payne isn’t going to join the fray! His sound may be helped along by none other than “Shape of You” singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran.
And according to The Sun, Payne has been working with Sheeran on his new material. The pair last worked together on the song “18” from 1D’s 2014 album, Four. A source told the paper that the collab came about quickly, saying, “Liam was in Los Angeles and was told that Ed was beginning to write a song with Liam in mind. Liam rushed back to the U.K. and the pair of them wrote the track together and then recorded it. With Ed’s expertise in creating a hit Liam knows they can’t go wrong. They have produced something special together.”
Another source revealed: “Liam wants his solo music to sound like a mix between Justin Bieber and Drake. It’s definitely not going to be a hip-hop album. He has worked with so many different producers and artists. But what’s for sure is that his songs will sound very, very different to what Harry Styles has put out.”
Recently, the former One Direction member confirmed he will be releasing new music with Atlanta rap trio Migos. Quavo, one third of Migos, said that the video has already been filmed for the track. “I just came from a video today,” he told English radio host Tim Westwood. “My boy Liam from One Direction. We just shot that. Crazy vid. Crazy visuals. Crazy team. Cool guy, nice guy. It’s goin’ up. I wasn’t even supposed to say that. It’s gonna be a surprise though.”
Payne signed to Capitol Records last July.
