Lil Nas X keeps riding high with “Old Town Road.”
The song, which tops the Billboard Hot 100 chart for a second consecutive week, has shattered a streaming record set by Drake last summer.
According to Nielsen Music, “Old Town Road” was streamed 143 million times last week in the U.S. alone, surpassing the 116.2 million streams of Drake’s “In My Feelings” in one week last July.
The number of Lil Nas X combines both the original version of “Old Town Road” and the remix featuring Billy Ray Cyrus.
The country rap song also had 124,000 downloads in the week ended April 11 – just shy of Drake’s record-setting 127,000 downloads of “God’s Plan in February 2018.
“Old Town Road” also tops the Billboard Hot R&B / Hip-Hop Songs and Hot Rap Songs charts for a second week.
In Canada, "Old Town Road" bumped Billie Eilish's "Bad Guy" out of the top spot this week.
Lil Nas X (aka Montero Lamar Hill) released “Old Town Road” last December, inspired by the Wild West video game Red Dead Redemption 2. Billboard booted the song from its Country Songs chart in March because "it does not embrace enough elements of today’s country music to chart in its current version."
