There were multiple incidents in the Miami area this weekend involving rappers.
On Saturday, Lil Wayne pulled out of a scheduled headline performance at the the Rolling Loud festival in Miami Gardens over a dispute with police.
“To all my fans who came to see me at Rolling Loud, I’m sorry but I won’t be performing,” he tweeted. “The Festival Police (Not Rolling Loud) made it mandatory that I had to be policed and checked to get on the stadium grounds.
“I do not and will not ever settle for being policed to do my job and give you guys a great show.”
Later Saturday, Miami-Dade police arrested Kodak Black on weapons charges when he arrived at the festival site. The rapper, who was born Dieuson Octave but whose name is now Bill Kapri, was arrested following an investigation by U.S. Marshals, the ATF and Miami-Dade Police’s gang unit.
Hours earlier, Chicago-based rapper AAB Hellabandz (aka Ameer Golston) was shot and killed on a busy street in the South Beach area of Miami Beach. Two other men were wounded when bullets flew.
On Sunday afternoon, a man was killed and a woman – reportedly the girlfriend of rapper NBA YoungBoy – was wounded when gunfire broke out during an argument between "rival rappers" outside the Trump International Beach Resort in Sunny Isles Beach.
There were also reports over the weekend that Young Thug was targeted in a drive-by shooting early Friday morning but a rep for the rap star told TMZ he was "long gone and not involved."
