A movie musical based around the hits of Lionel Richie is in development at Disney.
According to Variety, the live-action project takes its working title from Richie’s 1983 hit “All Night Long.”
Richie and manager Bruce Eskowitz are among the producers of the movie, which is being written by Pete Chiarelli (Crazy Rich Asians).
Variety reported that the movie will be similar to the Mamma Mia films, which used the music of ABBA, rather than a biopic like Bohemian Rhapsody or Rocketman.
Richie, who turns 71 this month, has penned a long list of hits, including “Easy,” “Hello,” “Three Times a Lady,” “Stuck on You,” “Truly,” “Dancing on the Ceiling” and “Endless Love.” He also wrote “Lady” for Kenny Rogers and co-wrote “We Are The World” with Michael Jackson.
