Lionel Richie and Mariah Carey have postponed their joint tour -- which includes two Canadian dates -- so Richie can recover from knee surgery.

The All The Hits tour was scheduled to kick off on March 15 in Baltimore and run through to May 27 in Fort Lauderdale. It will be rescheduled for this summer.

"When you have been performing as long as I have it takes a toll on your body," Richie said in a statement. "Unfortunately, my recovery from a knee procedure will not have me 100 per cent ready to start the tour next month.

“I don't want to disappoint my fans, and I look forward to being back on stage so we can all be 'Dancing on the Ceiling' together again.”

Tickets for the original dates will be honoured.

The All The Hits tour included a March 30th show at Toronto’s Air Canada Centre and an April 27 stop at Rogers Arena in Vancouver.
