A Great Big World, the duo that gave us “Say Something” in 2014, debuted their new single “This Is Magic” on Tuesday.
“You make me feel like I'm a kid inside a candy store / A sugar rush straight to my heart, a taste I can’t ignore,” they sing. “Hey boy / I've never been much of a dreamer / That smile is turning me into a believer.”
In a message to fans, A Great Big World’s Chad King said: “I want LGBTQ+ humans all around the world to feel fully accepted for who they are and for the LGBTQ+ labels to be celebrated and normalized and a non-issue.
“I hope this song moves us forward in that direction. To our LGBTQ+ friends, let’s stand fully in our queerness and not let fear dictate how we live. In your truth is where your happiness lies. You are who you are and you love who you love.”
A Great Big World previously released “Everyone is Gay,” a song King said was aimed at anyone who is confused or conflicted about their sexuality. “There’s a spectrum of sexuality and we’re all part of it and you can be gay, you can be straight, you can be somewhere in the middle,” he explained. “You should be who you are and you should love who you love and this is life.”
