Canadian rock band Age of Days has put their unique spin on a late-80’s hit from Swedish pop duo Roxette.
The cover of “The Look,” which features the vocals of Heidi Shepherd, was released this week as the first single from the band’s forthcoming album.
“We started talking about doing this song back in the summer of 2017,” explained vocalist Tim Morrison, in a release. “It’s something we’ve wanted to do for a long time. We were right in the middle of tracking new original tunes, so we had to reschedule to early 2018 to cut it.
“We felt like we wanted to do something maybe no one would expect. It’s our first crack at recording a cover so we were pretty happy the way it was coming together.”
Bassist Matt McLaughlin added: “It’s such a great song and we knew it would translate well to a hard rock approach. Most great songs can cross genres.”
“The Look” was a global success in 1989 for Roxette, which consisted of Marie Fredriksson and Per Gessle (who wrote the track).
Age of Days, which formed in New Brunswick in 2005, released “The Look” with a lyric video. Check it out below:
