In a move that'll likely make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside, Alicia Keys dropped her new A$AP Rocky-assisted single, "Blended Family (What You Do For Love)," and it's an ode to Swizz Beatz’ son, Kasseem Dean Jr., from his previous marriage with Mashonda.
The cut, which surfaced on Thursday, brings listeners one step closer to the singer's personal life. Atop a friendly bass, piano and acoustic guitar, Alicia shares her love for the kid. "I may not really be your mother,” she croons over the mellow production. “That don’t mean that I don’t really love ya / Even though I married your father / That’s not the only reason I’m here for ya."
In an Instagram post, Keys shared: "I'm so excited for you to hear this song. It means so much to me and our whole family," she wrote. "The understanding, compassion and support we’ve found is a powerful testament to the healing that comes when we choose love. Especially for the kids… the most important part of our lives. Celebrating@mashondatifrere for our commitment to each other with support and true growth. "
"Blended Family (What You Do For Love)" is lifted from Here, which was executed produced by Swizz and described as her "most raw and honest creation yet." It's set to drop on Nov. 4.
