The Black Keys on Thursday unveiled “Lo/Hi,” the duo’s first new song in five years.

“Nobody to love you / Nobody to care / If you got nobody to hug you / No one to answer your prayer,” sings Dan Auerbach, who penned the psychedelic track with Patrick Carney.

“Nobody to love you / Nobody to care / Nobody to drug you / No one to hold back your hair.”

Auerbach and Carney produced and recorded “Lo/Hi” at Auerbach’s Nashville studio.

Both have kept busy with side projects since the last Black Keys album, 2014’s Turn Blue. Auerbach put out his second solo album, 2017’s Waiting on a Song, and wrote and produced for other artists.

Carney (who welcomed son Rhys last August with singer Michelle Branch) co-wrote the BoJack Horseman theme and has also produced and recorded tracks with other artists. His new band Sad Planets will drop its debut album on April 19.
