Brett Eldredge has shared a new song, titled “The Long Way”, off of his upcoming self-titled album. It’s a downtempo track about having the patience to get to know a woman.
He sings, “Take me the long way around your town/ Where you the queen with the silver crown/ I want the secrets you keep, the shine underneath/ Of the diamond I think I just found.”
“For me, ‘Long Way’ stands out as such a powerful look at love and that search for something deeper,” said Eldredge in a statement.
“It’s about that big moment when you finally meet the person you’ve been waiting to meet, and you want to know everything about them. You don’t just want a quick breeze through their hometown and life, you want to take the long way. It’s a beautiful sentiment about love.”
Eldredge announced his forthcoming, self-titled album this past Tuesday (May 9). The 12-track album is due out August 4, and it’s “the most I’ve ever worked on a record, even more than my first album,” he told Billboard.
