Britney Spears has never been one to receive praise for her voice. In fact, she's been the first to describe her vocals as simply "okay." Detractors often count her out as any sort of vocalist because of the use of auto-tune and her overuse of lip-syncing. Still, it doesn't necessarily mean that the pop titan can't hold her own, as heard in a recently-uncovered version of her 2003 smash, "Toxic," which is making the blogosphere rounds.
Earlier this week, the early demo of her Bloodshy & Avant-produced mega-hit, which earned Spears a 2004 Grammy for Best Dance Recording, hit the Internet and hears the superstar offering a raw take of the pop track without any vocal processing. While there are clear hiccups throughout the cut, it does give listeners a rare opportunity to hear the star sing with passion and a distinct amount of character without any of the Cathy Dennis background vocals heard in the original.
Spears recently kicked off the first leg of her summer tour, which sees the titan hit markets like South Korea, Thailand, Hong Kong, the Philippines, Singapore, and Israel over the next month.
