Canada’s Bryan Adams paired with Ed Sheeran to pen “Shine A Light,” the title track from his forthcoming 14th studio album.
The opening seconds evoke John Mellencamp’s 1985 hit “Small Town” but the song quickly delivers the kind of sound Adams and Sheeran are masters at crafting.
Adams said he connected with Sheeran at one of his shows in Dublin. “One day I sent him a chorus I had for a song idea I had and asked him if he was interested in collaborating on it,” Adams recalled, in a release. “I got a couple of verses back a few days later, and man you should hear him sing it!”
Adams, who is performing nine concerts in his native Canada from Jan. 22 to Feb. 1, will launch the Shine A Light Tour in Belfast on Feb. 25.
The 59-year-old Ontario-born singer is also featured as a celebrity mentor on the Feb. 27 episode of The Launch.
The new album, which drops March 1, has 12 songs which Adams describes as “a good blend of rock and pop and R&B.” It includes “That’s How Strong Our Love Is,” a duet with Jennifer Lopez.
