Cheap Trick has released a cover of a David Bowie classic.
The veteran rock band – Robin Zander, Rick Nielsen, Tom Petersson and touring drummer Daxx Nielsen – put their twist on “Rebel Rebel” from Bowie’s 1974 album Diamond Dogs.
According to iHeartRadio's Andrew Magnotta, Petersson told Howard Stern in a 2016 interview about the band’s first encounter with Bowie.
“I had a bet going with Robin,” he recalled. “[Bowie] was over there talking to Annie Lennox. I said, 'I think I can get David to talk to me.’ He goes, 'He's not going to talk to you.’ ... So I just went over and held his hand. He didn't really see me, so he kept talking to her. For like five minutes, I'm standing there, and then he finally turns around, he looks at me and goes, ‘Oh ... you must have the wrong person.’”
Last year, Cheap Trick covered John Lennon’s “Gimme Some Truth.”
