Could these be the earliest recordings of U2?
A tape of the band’s Aug. 11, 1979 gig at Dublin’s now-defunct Dandelion Market has surfaced and fansite ATU2 has shared clips of two songs that don’t appear to have ever been recorded.
Pete McCluskey, whose band opened for U2 that day, recorded the set, which included “In Your Hand” and “Concentration Cramp.”
“I am pleased that I recorded the show,” McCluskey told ATU2, “and hadn’t realized the significance of it and its place in history until quite recently.”
Shortly after the show in 1979, U2 recorded their debut EP, Three.
