Just in time for April Fools’ Day, tech entrepreneur Elon Musk has released a rap song about the meme-inspiring gorilla Harambe.
“RIP Harambe / Sipping on some Bombay / We on our way to heaven / Amen, Amen,” an auto-tuned voice sings. “RIP Harambe / Smoking on some strong / In the gorilla zoo / And we thinking about you.”
The track’s inspiration, of course, is the Cincinnati Zoo gorilla that was put down after it dragged a three-year-old boy who fell into its enclosure in 2016.
“This might be my finest work,” tweeted Musk, who shared the song on the SoundCloud page of his fictitious Emo G Records label. (“I’m disappointed that my record label failed,” he joked.)
What’s not a joke, though, is how many times “RIP Harambe” has been streamed. In its first 48 hours online, it’s been played nearly a million times.
