James Blake has put his spin on one of the most romantic songs ever written, “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face.”
The 32-year-old British singer recorded a version of the 1950s folk song for his forthcoming EP Covers, out Dec. 11.
“The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face,” penned by Ewan MacColl, was a big hit for Roberta Flack in 1972 and earned Record of the Year and Song of the Year at the Grammy Awards.
It was also covered by Canada’s Céline Dion in 1999 and Gordon Lightfoot in 1966.
