Canadian country star Jess Moskaluke debuted “Country Girls” on Friday.
The Saskatchewan native co-wrote the song in Nashville with Emily Shackelton (Reba McEntire, Carly Pearce) and producer Corey Crowder.
“Maybe it’s the fact we grew up wilder than a field of horses / or the way we can rise with the sun and still rock ’til two in the morning,” Moskaluke sings. “If you wonder where them down-home boys will be / it ain’t no mystery.”
The chorus declares: “It’s the same around the world / Country boys love country girls.”
Moskaluke, a three-time winner of the CCMA for Female Artist of the Year, performed at the end of September at the inaugural C2C Country to Country Festival in Australia alongside acts like Tim McGraw, Kelsea Ballerini and Midland.
In 2017, Moskaluke told iHeartRadio.ca how she chooses her songs. “I release songs that are me,” she said. “This job completely consumes your life so if you’re not releasing music that you believe in and that you enjoy, it’s going to be a tough road.”
The singer recently celebrated her first wedding anniversary with Clay Becker.
Moskaluke will be back in her native province on Oct. 26 to perform at the NHL Heritage Classic in Regina.
