Keedron Bryant’s song “I Just Wanna Live” has been released to mark “Juneteenth,” the anniversary of the emancipation of slavery in the U.S.
Bryant, a gospel singer from Florida, went viral last month when he shared a song written by his mother Johnnetta following the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis.
“I’m a young black man, doing all that I can to stand. Oh, but when I look around, and I see what’s being done to my kind,” he sings. “Every day I’m being hunted as prey. My people don’t want no trouble.”
A video of his performance has been viewed more than 3.2 million times on Instagram and shared by stars like Janet Jackson.
Producer Dem Jointz put the song to music and pitched it to Warner Records, who is donating up to $50,000 in streaming proceeds to the NAACP.
Italy-born Bryant, who turns 13 next month, appeared earlier this year on Little Big Shots.
