Country star Kelsea Ballerini released her new song “Legends” Wednesday (June 7). It marks the first new music from her upcoming sophomore effort, a follow-up to her 2015 debut album The First Time.
The mid-tempo track was written by Ballerini, Hillary Lindsey (Carrie Underwood, Lady Gaga) and Forest Glen Whitehead. She will officially debut it tonight at the CMT Music Awards, where she is nominated in four categories, including Video of the Year.
"I wrote it from the perspective of a breakup," Ballerini told RSC. "Now I'm in such a different place in my life that, to me at least, it's a love song about a love that you look back on that doesn't even necessarily have to end. I hope my fans hear it as a letter to them but also they hear their own love story in it too."
