Kesha gets political in a new song she dropped on Monday, “Rich, White, Straight, Men.”
The pop star imagines what it would be like – particularly in America – if the titular demographic didn’t rule the world anymore. She sings about immigration, health care and equality in a song that seems suited for a stage musical.
“Twinkle, twinkle little star / How I wish the world was different,” Kesha sings. “Where who you love and who you are / Was nobody’s f**king business.
“If you are a boy who loves a boy / You’ll get a wedding cake and all / And if you are a lady and you do your lady work / Then you will make as many dollars as the boys / Not just two thirds.”
It’s the first new song from Kesha since last year’s anthemic “Here Comes the Change,” which was featured in the Ruth Bader Ginsburg biopic On The Basis of Sex. Her most recent studio album was 2017’s Rainbow.
